Kao Corporation introduced its British luxury fragrance brand, Molton Brown, to the Malaysian market with the opening of the flagship store on December 22, 2023. The launch, in collaboration with Valiram, Southeast Asia’s prominent luxury and lifestyle group, took place at the Exchange TRX Mall, an upscale shopping destination situated in Kuala Lumpur’s international financial district.
Following the inauguration, Molton Brown outlines plans for an extensive presence in Malaysia through diverse channels. The brand’s expansion strategy includes the imminent launch of a Molton Brown e-commerce site and a concerted effort to bolster its luxury hotel amenities business. These initiatives are designed to create multiple touchpoints, directing customers to both the physical store and the online platform. This strategic approach draws inspiration from the successful implementation of the Molton Brown Village concept in Japan, aiming to heighten the brand’s visibility in Malaysia.
Aligned with Kao’s overarching “Global Sharp Top Strategy,” a comprehensive plan to expand beauty brands into new markets, Molton Brown is set to venture into B-to-C businesses in Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong in 2024. Subsequent plans involve the brand’s introduction in Indonesia and Macau, positioning Molton Brown for broader globalization and reinforcing its presence in the dynamic Asian market.
