Fat Phill’s, a popular burger brand founded in Amsterdam, has agreed to a franchise deal to grow throughout the UK.
In the next ten years, the restaurant chain, which also serves cheesesteak fries and American-style sandwiches, plans to build 100 locations nationwide. It has an agreement with Freshly Baked Ltd., a master franchisee of Auntie Anne’s, a US brand of pretzel shops.
Established by Armin Vahabian in 2019, Fat Phill’s has grown to 17 locations around the Netherlands, making it the fastest-growing burger business in the nation.Freshly Baked’s managing director, Max Burton, stated that the original idea was to open three eateries in the 1,000–1,800 square foot range on high streets in Greater London.
“The quality of Fat Phill’s smash burgers and related offerings, their contemporary shop fit design, and their attentive service are what drew us in.”

“What attracted us to Fat Phill’s is the quality of their smash burgers and associated offers, their modern shop fit design and attention to detail from the franchisor,” Burton stated. Seeds Consulting, a franchise consultant and food and beverage business developer, has coordinated the agreement.
“Fat Phill’s is not just a great restaurant concept; it works equally well as a franchise,” stated Matteo Frigeri, director of Seeds Consulting. All of its current franchise partners have benefited from its growth and competitive return on investment; the majority of them have already opened a second or third location.”
In the UK, 38 Auntie Anne’s restaurants are run by Freshly Baked. In order to more than double its UK estate, it decided in November of last year to extend its master franchise deal with US-based franchise Focus Brands for a further ten years.
